Roman Marchenko, Senior Partner at Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm, delivered a speech entitled: “Outside funding of the process of tracing of assets carried out by Ukraine” at the Forum devoted to tracing of assets which was held in Kyiv on May 24, 2017.
At the panel discussion Roman Marchenko described the process of funding the tracing of assets, including the engagement of outside funding resources. He pointed out that only some of the creditors are able to cover all the expenses; at the same time there are special-purpose funds which provide funding. Mr Marchenko described the reasons which guide such funds in the process of taking decisions by them on participation in a certain project and the substantiation which needs to be provided.
Roman Marchenko expressed his hopes that the state will also start to actively engage the external funding facilities – since only in this case there will be chances to reimburse at least something.
The participants of the Forum discussed global tendencies of tracing and returning the assets, the ways how the lawyers may assist the state to return the relocated assets, offered their strategies and approaches towards cross-border tracing procedures. The international experts reported about the structure of financial investigations in the banking sphere and about the use of social networks in the process of tracing of assets.
