Oleksandr Fefelov, the Partner and Head of Antitrust and Competition Practice at Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm, moderated the Merger and Concerted Actions Amidst Crisis Session at the VI Ukrainian Antitrust Forum held on July 8 in Kyiv.
The experts discussed problems in the field of merger control related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the projected innovations in the merger control regulation system in Ukraine, as well as the possibility of expedited obtaining of merger clearances, in particular during the acquisition of assets within the framework of competitive procedures. The session participants have also reviewed the practical cases of monopoly abuse as exemplified by tobacco and digital markets.
“The issue of obtaining merger clearances and concerted action permits has always been in focus of business structures and specialists in competition law. The participants managed to discuss problematic issues in the field in the context of the financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, – said Oleksandr Fefelov. – The representative of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine assured that the committee is ready to weaken certain administrative approaches to the preparation of applications and their consideration”.
VI Ukrainian Antitrust Forum is organized by Yurydychna Praktyka Publishing House. The Forum is attended by the representatives of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, the Competition Development Foundation, the representatives of judicial authorities, members of Ukrainian and international business associations, partners of the leading law firms, top managers and legal advisers of numerous companies.
