The International Trade Practice team of Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm, led by Partner Olena Omelchenko, has initiated an anti-dumping investigation as a matter of representing lawful interests of Swisspan Limited Company regarding import to Ukraine of wood chipboard that originates both from the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.
Following the deliverables of reviewing the complaint, submitted by the Ukrainian manufacturer, the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade initiated an anti-dumping investigation on 20 February 2021 regarding import to Ukraine of the commodities from the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation that is described as follows: wood chipboard (WCB), excluding the WCB slabs that are covered with decorative layered plastic that is classified under the Ukrainian Classification of Goods for Foreign Economic Activity (UCGFEA) codes 4410 11 10 00, 4410 11 30 00 and 4410 11 90 00.
As a result of conducting the above anti-dumping investigation, an anti-dumping duty may be imposed on import of wood chipboard from the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation for the purpose of ensuring fair competition and protecting Ukrainian manufacturers from dumping imports. The anti-dumping investigation may take up to 12 months to complete.
Swisspan Limited Company is one of Ukraine’s leading wood processing company and manufacturer of furniture chipboard slabs. It specializes in manufacturing both polished and laminated wood chipboard, marketing it by its own Swisspan by Sorbes trade name. The company’s parent is Sorbes AG (Switzerland) that owns two wood processing enterprises in West Ukraine.
