Roman Marchenko, attorney, senior partner of Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm, and Arseniy Herasymiv, attorney of Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm, took part in the discussion of key issues and development prospects of the aviation industry of Ukraine at the panel discussion “Commercial aviation: international experience and Ukrainian reality” held on March 27, 2013.
Roman Marchenko focused on the resonant bankruptcies of the Ukrainian airlines. During his speech, he analyzed the situation briefly and proposed how to handle the problem emphasizing the peculiarities of the legislation, the interaction of the leading experts and government agencies, and also drew attention to the need for a clear action plan.
In addition, Mr. Marchenko shared opinion of the colleagues, who pointed to expediency of such events: “For many years, we have been providing legal advice for a number of aviation companies, airlines, airports, and we are doing our best to develop our clients’ businesses. Our contribution to this field is to improve the legal framework of our country in the field of aviation. We hope that we managed to discuss the critical moments, to communicate with the players in the aviation market and possibly to find jointly the solutions to the existing problems within the framework of the panel discussion”.
Arseniy Herasymiv, attorney of Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm, reported on “Trends in the world practices on air carrier liability to passengers and Ukrainian realities”. Oleksandr Grechko, First Deputy Chairman of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, spoke on adaptation of the national legislation to the EU regulatory framework in the field of civil aviation. In addition, the participants discussed the potential of the domestic aviation industry and aspects of the cheaper upgrade of the fleet of domestic airlines, which was initiated by Oleksandr Kiva, Vice President and Deputy General Designer of SE “Antonov”, and Evgeniy Treskunov, Executive Vice President for strategy and development of Ukraine International Airlines.
The panel discussion brought together more than 80 participants, including representatives of Ukrainian and international airlines, aircraft plants and enterprises, law firms, consulting and insurance companies, and media representatives.
