Roman Marchenko, Senior partner at Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm, moderated the third panel discussion regarding reform of the Ukrainian procedural legislation held on April 11, 2016 in Kyiv.
The events organized by the Council for Judicial Reform, the Committee on Procedural Law of the Ukrainian Bar Association and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv were devoted to discussion of the draft Code of Commercial Procedure of Ukraine in a new wording and amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure of Ukraine prepared by the Working Group on Reform of Procedural Legislation.
The final stage of the discussions focused on distribution of court costs and abuse of procedural rights. At previous meetings, the instruments of proof in civil and commercial litigation, procedural filters, questions of jurisdiction and forms of proceedings were discussed.
“The need for reform of procedural legislation has been imminent long ago. This is the most important and perhaps the most difficult part of the national judicial reform, which will directly affect the quality of justice in the country”, said Roman Marchenko.
