Maksym Kopeychykov, attorney at law, Partner of Ilyashev and Partners, took part in the round table “The importance, Peculiarities and Complexity of the Land Reform in Ukraine” held on August 29, 2011 in the press center of IA “LIGABusinessInform”.
The event was also attended by Serhiy Sviatko, Counsel to the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Artem Kadomskiy, First Deputy Chairman of the State Agency of Land Resources of Ukraine, Ivan Tomych, Chairman of the Union of Agricultural Service Cooperatives of Ukraine, Mykola Stryzhak, General Director of the Ukrainian State Foundation for Support of Farmer Eonomies and others.
The roundtable participants discussed, in particular, the issues on land ownership and the essence of land reform from the viewpoint of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine and made proposals as regards the land reform from the viewpoint of land users. The leading experts on land use commented to the media on prospects and opportunities to be opened by a new law “On Land Market”.
In his speech Maksym Kopeychykov said that it was impossible to delay the abolition of the moratorium on land sales, because at that time the government had the opportunity to adopt quickly and effectively the law on the land market and amendments to other laws through the Parliament. He also noted that if the land market was not launched in the near future, the reform could be delayed for 5-7 years and all relevant developments would be lost.
