Maksym Kopeychykov, Partner of Ilyashev & Partners, participated actively in the round table “Land Reform: Challenges and Prospects”, which was held on April 21, 2011 in the conference hall of Kyiv Hotel.
The round table was devoted to the discussion of topical issues related to the possible introduction of the agricultural land market and the next stage of land reform. Maksym Kopeychykov noted that the proposals to limit for 10 years the number of buyers of such lands only by the citizens of Ukraine may cause that instead of means of production lands will become exclusively the object of investment, and this restriction will facilitate purchase of land plots at reduced prices and will not contribute to the aim of putting the agricultural lands for the agricultural commodity production into civil circulation.
The round table was organized by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) “Access to Justice and Legal Awareness in Ukraine “Law-Governed State”. The event was attended by people’s deputies of Ukraine, including members of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations, representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, scholars, representatives of professional associations, non-governmental organizations and local authorities.
