By the decision of the investigating judge of the Sviatoshynskyi District Court of Kyiv of March 21, 2022, twelve An-124-100 Ruslan transport aircrafts of the Russian Volga-Dnepr Airlines were arrested in the framework of criminal proceedings opened at the request of the State Enterprise Antonov.
The ruling was adopted to ensure the preservation of material evidence and further compensation. The total cost of the aircrafts is more than UAH 24 billion.
“Rosaviation has illegally granted the right to a company belonging to the Volga-Dnepr group of companies to issue airworthiness certificates to for Ruslans. In fact, in recent years, Volga-Dnepr has issued certificates to itself, endangering the safe operation of aircrafts, which is a flagrant violation of international conventions, – noted at Ilyashev & Partners. – This is a serious victory for Ukraine, which was made possible by the incredible joint efforts of the prosecutor’s office, the Ministry of Transport, the Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ukroboronprom. Currently, three planes are prohibited from flying out of Germany, one from Canada, work continues on arrests in other jurisdictions”.
According to the decision of the court, the aircrafts are to be transferred to the Ukrainian Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA).
