Former Managers of the Largest Insurance Company “Oranta” Declared Internationally Wanted by Interpol


Oleh Spilka, former Chairman of the Supervisory Board of “Oranta” NJSIC, and Oleksandr Tyminskiy, Member of the Supervisory Board, were declared internationally wanted by Interpol at the request of Ukraine. This was announced by famous Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm that represents BTA Bank (Kazakhstan) being the major shareholder in “Oranta” NJSIC.

O. Spilka and O. Tyminskiy are accused of the embezzlement worth more than USD 10 million. Pursuant to criminal case files, in 2008, in accordance with the organized by the suspects scheme, the rights for “Oranta” NJSIC trademarks were transferred to the company controlled by these criminals. The transaction price amounted to UAH 6 million. Two months later, the same trademarks were returned to “Oranta” on lease for five years. For this lease the insurance company paid more than UAH 65 million. In 2009, under the same scheme the withdrawal of assets took place during the sale and repurchase by “Oranta” NJSIC of the shares in charter capital of “Garant-ASSISTANCE” LLC. The company incurred damages in the amount of UAH 16 million as a result of these transactions.

The Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of National Police in Kyiv served the charges against the citizens Spilka and Tyminskiy under the Article 191 (5) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (large-scale misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by the abuse of powers or by the organized group) with the sanction of up to 12 years of imprisonment with property confiscation.
