Attorneys of Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm held a seminar for journalists “Professional Duties and Rights of Journalists and Media Employees”. Managing partner Mikhail Ilyashev and attorneys Mariia Koval and Artem Orel spoke on the most popular questions of the journalists’ rights to collection, processing and dissemination of information.
The questions of access to public information on civil servants, politicians, stars and public figures were discussed. The attorneys of Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm also touched upon responsibility for accuracy and reliability of information and explained the issue regarding filming of objects of private property and state-owned objects.
The seminar was attended by 15 journalists from Forbes, TV Channel “1+1”, Inter TV Channel, TRC “Ukraine”, TRC “NTN”, TV Channel News “24”, UNIAN News Agency, Ukrainski Novyny News Agency, Novoye Vremya, Ekonomichna Pravda and other media. Journalists had many questions and together with the attorneys made real case studies from work of journalism.
The media employees responded positively to the initiative of Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm and expressed a desire to hold such meetings regularly. After the seminar all journalists received handouts with excerpts from major Laws governing their professional activities.
