Maksym Kopeychykov, Partner at Ilyashev & Partners, dies at 39

Ilyahsev & Partners announces the sudden death of its Partner Maksym Kopeychykov, who had been with the practice since 2001.

Born in Kyiv, Maksym graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Law Faculty (cum laude). Maksym started his professional career in 1997 in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. In 2001 he became a Partner at Ilyashev and Partners Law Firm, heading the practice of banking and finance, real estate and tax.

Over 15 years, Maksym has gained a reputation as one of the leading lawyers of Ukraine: he was repeatedly included in the the annual ranking “Client’s Choice: TOP-100 Best Lawyers of Ukraine” and was recommended by international directories in real estate, tax and banking.

Despite the pressures of his role, Maksym found time to serve as an active member of the Public Council at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. Since 2013 Maksym assisted the Public Council in its work related to improvement of legislative norms on registration of real property rights. In 2015 Maksym Kopeychykov was elected as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the National Joint-Stock Insurance Company “Oranta”.

Mikhail Ilyashev, Managing Partner, said: “Maksym worked at the firm for 15 years, he helped it to grow and to become a market leader. He was an indispensable professional, a respected leader and a true friend. Our team is overwhelmed by his sudden death, and he will be greatly missed”.

Maksym Kopeychykov is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 11, in Kiev. The ceremony will begin at 10.30 in the administrative building of Baikove Cemetery, 16 Baikova Street.
