Andrey Bychkov has been practicing law since 2006 and specializes in international arbitration and litigation with a primary focus on shipping, oil and gas, commodities, aviation, shareholders and banking disputes.

For many years, Andrey has been acting in high profile disputes and has an extensive experience representing clients in international arbitrations under the major arbitration rules, including the UNCITRAL, the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Swiss Chambers’ Arbitration Institution (SCAI), the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICAC at the UCCI), the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), the Grain and Feed Trade Association (GAFTA) and the Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations (FOSFA).

Andrey also regularly handles complex cross-border litigations involving two or more jurisdictions and assists clients in obtaining and challenging freezing injunctions in England, Cyprus and the British Virgin Islands. This, combined with Andrey’s valuable experience in international asset tracing, has helped him ensure actual recovery for clients in the majority of cases in which he has been involved.

In Ukraine, Andrey’s practice focuses on recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and judgments, arresting assets and obtaining other types of interim relief in support of international arbitration proceedings

  • Acting for JKX Oil & Gas Plc in the process of recognition and enforcement of an investment arbitration award issued in London under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules for the reimbursement by the State of Ukraine of the losses incurred by the client as a result of increasing the rental fee rate for the use of subsoil resources
  • Representing State Enterprise SpetsTechnoExport at the Swiss Chambers’ Arbitration Institute (SCAI) in arbitration proceedings relating to non-compliance by a supplier with its obligations under a supply agreement
  • Acting for one of the largest Ukrainian agricultural groups in the process of challenging a freezing order of a Cypriot court in proceedings relating to enforcement of GAFTA arbitration awards
  • Acting for a major Ukrainian agricultural group of companies and its UBOs in relation to BVI court proceedings brought by a former business partner and involving, inter alia, allegations of fraud and misappropriation of assets
  • Acting for J.S. Corrugating Machinery Co., Ltd, one of the largest machinery manufacturers in China, in court proceedings relating to recognition and enforcement in Ukraine of an arbitration award issued by China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC)
  • Acting for Creative Group in a dispute with UniCredit Bank under the Arbitration Rules of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Munich
  • Representing State Enterprise Antonov in an arbitration against a Libyan company under the Rules of the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICAC at the UCCI) relating to AN-124-100 “Ruslan” Aircraft owned by the Libyan company
  • Representing a Latvian shipowner and a Latvian bank at the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) in a dispute with a Russian bareboat charterer of the clients' vessel
  • Representing a Latvian shipowner in its dispute with a Danish charterer under the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA) Terms
