Lawyers of Ilyashev & Partners Talking about Problems of Bringing the Russian Federation to Responsibility as a Result of Annexation of Crimea

Lawyers of Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm took part in the round table entitled: “When will Russia compensate its debts for Crimea?” organized on February 17, 2015 by a weekly newspaper “Delovaya Stolitsa” together with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

In her speech related the prospects of appealing at the WTO the discriminatory actions of the Russian Federation Olena Omelchenko, the head of the international trade law practice at Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm, stated that: “The main problem impeding effective work in this direction is the absence of the approved procedure of engagement of professional legal advisers”.

Oleksandr Dementiev, a lawyer at Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm specializing at the resolution of disputes at ECHR, touched upon a subject of the prospects of lodging appeals against the Russian Federation on violation of the rights of Ukrainian companies and individual persons at the territory of Crimea and Donbas.

Dmytro Shemelin, a lawyer at Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm specializing at international arbitration, placed focus onto the main problems of claims lodged against the Russian Federation by certain individual state authorities and private economic entities (Privatbank, Naftogaz of Ukraine etc.) within the frames of international investment arbitration.

The event was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of economic development and trade of Ukraine, the Ministry of Justice, as well as by various legal advisers.
